Artist Statement
I am a still life artist painting in the realist tradition. My choice of subject may range from the formal and delicate to the ordinary and worn, depending upon the voice within. The beauty marks of age and wear remain appealing elements. Setting the stage is important to me. That is where I "play" with the objects that are drawing my attention at any particular time. There is always competition for favor. I think the interplay of shapes, lines and colors should suggest a dialogue among the principals. In turn, the viewer is invited to participate, to engage in an experience with adds a further dimension to the painting.
